Product details
Name: High Viscosity Cyanoacrylate Superglue
A high viscosity cyanoacrylate adhesive developed for bonding rubber and plastics including PVCu.
Features: Rapid curing. – Excellent adhesion. – High tensile strength. – High viscosity liquid. – Suitable for porous substrates. – Gap-filling.
Application: Combines high tensile strength with improved impact resistance resulting in a toughened bond. Being higher viscosity enables it to be used on porous and vertical surfaces without excessive penetration or running. For use on porous surfaces, it can be used for bonding: foam products, PVCu trims, rubber, wood and many plastics. Also has gap-filling properties making it ideal for bonding trims and caps on PVCu windows as well as rubber, wood, metal, ceramics, MDF, leather, porcelain and card. Set time range 10 to 30 seconds.
Instructions: Preparation: Surfaces to be bonded must be clean, dry and free from dust, grease, oil or any other contaminants that may hinder adhesion.
Application: HVC16 permits readjustment of components before bonding commences. Apply a thin film to one side only and bring together immediately. Reposition within 2-3 seconds. Maintain light pressure without movement of joint for at least the required time stated in “Bonding Times” section. 20 seconds is sufficient for most materials. As the polymerisation of cyanoacrylates is initiated by moisture from the atmosphere best results will be obtained if the relative humidity is in excess of 50%. Higher levels of humidity reduce the opportunity for monomer evaporation thus limiting fume build up. If bonding is continuous process good ventilation must be ensured.
Bonding Times: Ambient conditions – room temperature +20°C/ 60% RH:- Plastics 5-30 seconds. – Rubbers 1-15 seconds.
Cleaning: Clean away any excess adhesive with a dry cloth. Once the glue has dried it is best removed mechanically.
Limitations: Not suitable for permanent glass bonding. Oily or greasy surfaces cannot be bonded. Olefinic or fluro polymers may require specialised bonding techniques. Avoid exposure to strong light and heat sources.
